Most games, like fashion are subject to change according to trends. Casino games are presently the most popular but will probably not always be so. Checkers, however is timeless and always has and always will be a game that is widely played. For this reason it is a good game to devote time and energy towards. The game has even had a modern twist and is available in most download Casino . (118121)

A. Known as The Bristol Dyke
B. New to me, but the players usually seek new play to get off book lines. 29-25, 9-14, 18-9, 5-14, 22-17, 8-11 would return to the trunk game in "Basic Checkers" at Note-H.
C. The 22-18 exchange would draw here.
D. Loses and gives the move to Red. The retreat 19-16 would draw.
E. Misses the win with 9-14, 30-26, 15-19, 26-31, 27-24, 31-26, 19-23, 26-19, 24-15 wins.
F. Now a draw is missed with 28-24.
G. Nice maneuver, but it doesn't change the move.
H. Cont; 24-19, 27-24, 20-27, 31-15 Red (King) wins. A hard fought ending.

Red Win

Drag the pieces on the board and move
them. As jumps are made, drag the piece off
anywhere on the screen. Replace men with king's
as they are crowned.
A. A famous opening, known as "the Second double Corner."
B. A forced move. The natural 25-22 loses, known since the 19th century.
C. Definitely best, but 22-17 draws. The only game I have on 22-17 was in 1878 between the famous R.D. Yates and J.P. Reed. After 22-17 , 11-15, 18-11, 15-24, 27-20, 4-8. Here Reed played 23-19 which loses. the only dr is 17-13*, 10-15, 25-22, 15-19, 23-16, 12-19, 30-26*, 2-7, 32-28*, 7-11 and 22-17 draws.
After Reed's 23-19?, 8-11, 30-26, 3-8, (11-15 wins too), 32-28, 11-15, 20-16, 15-24, 28-19. Now Yates cut 10-15 allowing a draw. Instead of 10-15--14-18* is a Red Win.
D. Kears says "leads to a safe draw."
E. 11-6 and 9-13 also draw.
F. New to me. 21-17 is old pub. play to dr. 24-19 seems a fine move.
G. 31-26 would also draw.
H. 9-14 is a good dr after 17-13, 2-6 (15-18 draws also) 11-8, 3-12, 10-7 now the fine shot with 24-27, 31-24, 15-19, 24-15, 23-26, 30-23 and 6-9 draws immediately.
I. This loses. The last draw is 21-17, 22-25, 30-21, 13-22, 21-17, 23-26, 17-13, 26-30, 9-6, 2-9, 13-6, and crowning 2 kings under the bridge draws.
J. A great ending.
JJ. A standard king majority ending win now.
K. 14-18, 25-21, 11-7, 3-10, 6-15 is a faster win.
L. Suicidal but nothing else will draw.
M. A few more moves and King resigned. An ending well handled by Dr. Beckwith.

Wins-G

Drag the pieces on the board and move them.
As jumps are made, drag the piece off anywhere on the screen.
Replace men with king's as they are crowned.

A. "The Tillicoultry", seldom played today. Beautiful combinations are required to draw. the opening is full of shots also. This opening is well covered in our "New Gold" program.
B. About any move is good for Red.
C. MasterPlay gives 17-13 to draw. In my mss, I have the 24-19 cut to to draw.
D. Now back on published play.
E. 15-18, 7-10 and 1-6 is the pub play. This is new to me.
F. Natural but loses. 20-24, 17-13, 1-6, 22-18, 24-28, 31-27, 11-16, 18-15, 14-18, 23-7, 2-18, 9-2, 16-23 draws.
G. These games show the 3 wins that were scored. The remaining games were drawn. Ron King is to be congratulated for his defense of the GAYP World Title.
Dr. Richard Beckwith is an up and coming Master who fought a great match. He has a great future.
